Jews in Rome

SYNAGOGUE AND MUSEUM

Built in the Babylonian style, the Great Synagogue is dominated by a stately dome. The Museum preserves some important memories of Jewish people’s history in Rome.

GHETTO

Its narrow streets have a special atmosphere: they bring back to memory the time when Ghetto’s gates were closed from dusk till dawn.

TURTLE FOUNTAIN

Beautiful fountain which marks Ghetto’s borders.

ARCH OF TITUS

Its high relief celebrates the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and shows the famous Menorah and Ark of the Covenant entering Rome. They disappeared during the Barbarian Invasions.
